Alberta (Prall) Nellis, 95, of Manchester, CT, and formerly of Palatine Bridge, NY died Tuesday, May 27, 2008. She was born July 5, 1912 in the Town of Palatine, NY, the daughter of the late Jacob and Aurelia (Sitterly) Prall. In June 1933 she was married to Arnold Nellis, their union lasting until his passing in November 2001. Mrs. Nellis worked for several employers, including the former Arkell & Smiths, and retired in 1972 from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth Stanley; a granddaughter, Yvonne Marie Collins; her brothers, Leon, Joseph, Wellington "Pete", Jacob, and Edmund Prall and sisters, Catherine Sponable Miller, Gertrude Jump, Lillian Lewis, and Agnes Watson. She is survived by three daughters and four sons-in-law, Catherine and Rafael Montilla of Mechanicville, NY, Nancy and Ralph Showerman of Candor, NY, Carol and Francis Preston of Manchester, CT, with whom she made her home, James Stanley of Burke, VA, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 10:00am at the Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, June 8, 2008 from 2:00-4:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Place Cemetery, Fort Plain, NY.
