Mrs. Madge P. Bird Metter- Mrs. Madge P. Bird 76, of Metter died Friday evening at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. She was a native and life long resident of Candler County; and a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church. She worked for the Candler County Sheriff's Office for many years, and retired from the Candler County Magistrate Court. She enjoyed painting, sewing, blue grass gospel music and spending time at the beach. She is predeceased by her parents Clyde Prince and Maude Waller Prince, husband Louis "Luke" Bird, daughter Lynn Bird; and 2 brothers, and 1 sister. She is survived by her son Ricky (Debra) Prince, of Tifton, daughter Jean (Tommy) Haywood of Pulaski; 3 grandchildren Teri Sapp, Julie Curry, Becky Harper; and 4 great-grandchildren Collin Curry, Carlie Curry, Courtney Harper, and C.J. Sapp. Visitation will be on Sunday November 10, 2013 from 5:00-8:00PM at Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Metter Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday November 11, 2013 at 11:00AM at Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Metter Chapel with the Rev. Wade McBride and Rev. Vic Fordham officiating.
