Mary Prom Peters followed her brothers, Mathias, John and Hubert, and sister, Kate Prom Strauss, as they went westward in search of farm land. She spent some time working in a household as maid in Lake City before marrying Nickolas Peters, a widow, with a young daughter, Christina, on May 24, 1881 in Bellechester.

Services at Bellechester Catholic church on July 3rd, 1942 by Rev. Jochann of Bellechester at 9:30 a.m. Buried on the same day at Bellechester cemetery. Death certificate mailed to Chas. Cliff, clerk of Chester Township. Date of birth given as March 5th, 1859. Pallbearers were: Art Gregoire; Steve Strauss; Henry Strauss; John Prom; Henry Prom; and Henry Lorge. Casket selected by children (Nick and son).
