FARLEY, Iowa - Margaret C. Hielscher, 90, formerly of Farley, died Monday evening, Aug. 26, 2002, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, after a sudden illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, with the Rev. Richard Gould officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hielscher was employed as a cook at the Oasis Cafe at Troy's Truck Stop in Farley for many years.

Margaret was born on July 27, 1912, in Theilman, Minn., daughter of William and Mathilda (Kottschade) Rahman. She married Lawrence C. "Minnie" Hielscher on Oct. 20, 1936, in Wabasha, Minn.

She received her education in the rural Theilman schools. She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. Margaret enjoyed visiting with her neighbors, cooking, baking and gardening.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Fred) Taft, of Runaway Bay, Texas, and Peggy (Ron) Pfeiler, of Asbury; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-granddaughter; a sister, Mary Tull, of Eugene, Ore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence C. "Minnie" Hielscher, on April 2, 1988; a great-grandson, Thad Howes; four brothers, Arthur, Louis, William and Edward Rahman; and a sister, Theresa Wallerich.

A Margaret C. Hielscher Memorial Fund has been established.

The family of Margaret would like to thank the entire staff of Stonehill Care Center for all the special kindnesses given to Margaret over the years.
