Johnny R. Ready, 76, of Mason, formerly of Chatsworth and Wilmington, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2009) at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 16, 1933, in Mason, the son of Lynn "Skinny" W. and Myrtle E. (Shumaker) Ready. He married Margarite "Peggy" Sheets on Feb. 4, 1954, in Joliet. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1975. He married Joy Gerdes on May 22, 1980, in Chatsworth.
Survivors include his wife, Joy of Mason; sons, Thomas (Lovetta) Ready of Columbus, Ohio, Johnny (Rena) Ready Jr. of Caney, Kan., and Shawn Ready of San Marcos, Texas; daughters, Theresa (Edmond) Noffsinger of LeRoy, Kimberly (Paul) Baumann of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Kathy (Bill) Abry of Pontiac; daughter-in-law, Gina Ready of Bloomington; brothers, Dale Ready of Mason, Jerry (Glenda) Ready of Mahomet and Jim (Pauline) Ready of Charleston; sisters, Barbara Ready of Champaign, Sandra Volpi of Effingham and Lynda Ready of Champaign; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffrey Ready; and brother, Urban Ready.
He served in the U.S. Army.
