Vermillion - Darelle "Bill" Red Bear, 49, of Vermillion, SD died January 4, 2009 at the Sanford Vermillion Hospital.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. There will be a social gathering after the memorial service followed by the burial of ashes at Bluffview Cemetery in Vermillion. The Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion is handling the arrangements.

Darelle "Bill" Red Bear, 49, of Vermillion, SD died January 4, 2009 at the Sanford Vermillion Hospital.

Bill was born on May 4, 1959 to Albert and Christine (Crow Dog) Red Bear in Sterling, CO. He then moved to Allen, SD with his parents and siblings. In 1987, he moved to Yankton, SD where he lived until 2000. He then moved to Vermillion where he presently lived.

Bill is one of ten children which include: Bernadine, Rachel, Sharon, Gloria, Virgus, Albert, Kenneth, Clifus and Benny. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Christine Red Bear.

Bill was very passionate about being part of the Native American culture, especially being part of the drum group at USD. He enjoyed growing and eating hot peppers, swimming, working on his archery skills, camping, and being around animals. Bill loved sports of all kind, but his talent laid in the game of basketball. Bill was a man of few words, but his kindness and gentle personality influenced many people. He enjoyed his leisure time by watching western movies, drinking pop and eating cookies.

Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. There will be a social gathering after the memorial service followed by the burial of ashes at Bluffview Cemetery in Vermillion
