Fred Richardson was the third of seven children born to Fred and Ida Mae Richardson in Tuskegee, Alabama on July 7, 1930. He attended Washington Public Elementary School and from there he went on to Tuskegee Institute High School and later to Tuskegee Institute. Fred joined the U.S. Army in June 5, 1951, where he served his country honorably during the Korean War as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in various parts of Europe, including Austria and Germany. He met and married his wife Juanita in 1955. They moved from Tuskegee to Gary, Indiana, and through that union, four children were born, Fred, Judith, Pamela and Jeffery. Fred accepted Christ at an early age. He united with the Liberty Baptist Church where he sang with the voices of liberty, was the president of the male chorus, was a trustee and also attended Sunday School and Bible Study. He was employed by Inland Steel Corporation for 37 years in the heating department and also worked as foreman. He retired from Inland in 1993. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Juanita Richardson and children Judith L. Richardson of Woodbridge, Virginia, Pamela J. Richardson of Los Angeles, California, and Jeffery A. Richardson of Gary, Indiana, grandson Joronne and great grandson Damillion, sisters Helen Miller and Vera Alexander, both of Cleveland Ohio, Ora Smith of Washington D.C., nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation Monday, October 25, 2010 from 12-8:00 p.m. Family hours 6-8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 W. 11th Ave. Funeral service Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church 2301 Roosevelt St. Rev. Donald J. Starks officiating. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
