Mary M. Cole, 77, formerly of Madison, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at her daughter's residence at 292 Lewis Road, Ghent, Ky.

She was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Madison, the daughter of William Addison and Ollie Elizabeth Johnson Richard. She was a retired employee of the former Joyce Shoe Corp. with 31 years of service. She was a member of the American Legion, Jefferson Post 9, Women's Auxiliary; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1969, Women's Auxiliary. She had been a member of the former Madison Eagles Lodge women's auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing, and attending the Madison Regatta.

Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Counts of Hanover, Donna Ballard of Florence and Roxie Arvin of Ghent; five sons, Raymond L. Stucker of Hanover, Billy Stucker of Kokomo, Anthony "Tony" Cole of Madison, Jerry Stucker of Lexington and Barton Stucker of Brownstown; three sisters, Louise Luckett of New Washington, Charlotte Hahn of Westport and Anna Maddox of Madison; 33 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Lawrence Cole, Sept. 4, 1995; her stepfather, Richard Poling; two sons, Michael and Noland Stucker; one daughter, Debbie Ann Stucker; six sisters, Ollie Owens, Clara Beach, Frances Thomas, Dorothy Young Short, Rosa Mae Keller and Lula Bell "Pickle" Browder; and three brothers, William and Charles Richard, and James Bennett.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Vail-Holt Funeral Home Madison Chapel, with burial in Brooksburg Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

An American Legion Auxiliary memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the donor's favorite charity.
