Mary Magdalene “Maggie” Wright, 86, of Rockford departed this earthly life Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center after a long illness. She was born June 18, 1929 in Eagles Mills, Arkansas the daughter of Esker and Quintilla Rideout. Mary lived in Rockford 65 years coming from Arkansas. She married James Wright December 29, 1947 in Arkansas he preceded her in death. Mary was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church formerly serving in the Gospel Choir, Missionary Society, Stewardess Board, Young Matrons Club and as an Sunday School Teacher. And a member of the Evening Stars Quartet Group. She attended schools in Arkansas.

Mary leaves to cherish many loving memories, three daughters, Jenniel, Linda Carol and Janet Wright; 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Meeks, Glorine Morris and Verla Purifoy; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, one son, Robert Wright, six brothers, and six sisters.

Services were held Monday, January 11, 2016 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church 3000 Rural Street, Rockford, IL, with Pastor Charlene B. Mills officiating.

Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, Winnebago County, IL.
