She graduated from New Carlisle High School in 1907. She graduated from the Indiana State Teachers College, in Terre Haute, IN in 1908. She taught from 1908-1911 as a small county school southeast of South Bend, IN.
She married Walter Howard Beall on 14 MAY 1911 in New Carlisle, IN.
Their children were:
Margaret Helen Beall (Harold Stephen White)
Charles Nelson Beall (Marjorie Alice Wilhelm)
Her father died in 1923 and she had to sell the farm equipment and move into town.
Alta had two children aged 4 & 11. She remodeled a garage into a village store and sold groceries to the neighbors and travellers passing through. She also sold cosmetics to the ladies.
She married Albert John Bogart 15 OCT 1925 in LaPorte County, IN. He was an equipment operator for the highway department. The family joined the Rolling Prairie Methodist Church. Alta was an acitve member of the Ladies Aid Society. The depression left Albert jobless and Alta had to close the store. The next several years were spent in Albaert doing any job he could get and Alta sold fruits, vegetables, poultry, and eggs from a roadside stand.
In 1946 Albert was found to have angina pectoris which had been steadily decreasing his activity level. Albert died 5 FEB 1953 in Byron, LaPorte County, IN.
Alta died 14 APR 1962 in LaPorte County, IN.
