Mary Elizabeth “ Betty” Bewley, 74, of Flora, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1980, at the Clinton House Convalescent Center, Frankfort, where she had resided the past two weeks. She had been in ill health since 1964. Born Feb. 4, 1906, in Upland, Calif., she was the daughter of Jonathan and Gertrude Baker Robbins. She was married Sept. 6, 1924, to Stafford Gilmore Bewley, who died Dec. 17, 1957. She and her husband owned bakeries in Flora from 1946 to 1964. She was a member of the Flora United Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, Richard Bewley of Fairland, William Bewley of Waco, Texas, and Don Bewley of Frankfort; one daughter, Elinor Purdue of Logansport; two brothers, Marion and James Robbins of Thorntown; one sister, Mildred Scott of Irvine, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded her in death. Arrangements are pending at Reinke Funeral Home, Flora.
