She grew up in nearby Wylie where she and her older brother Gary graduated high school. Beverly attended college in Denton and went on to earn a Master's in Education. On August 19, 1966, she married Gary Anderson from Tacoma, Washington to whom she was devoted ever after. Gary and Beverly moved to Norman in 1979.
She began her career as a teacher in Crandall, Texas, but later retired from teaching to attend to her three children (Jason, Eric, and Wendy). Beverly was always very active in the church and served 20 years as librarian at McFarlin UMC. For many years, she also directed the after-school program at Kennedy Elementary.
An artist throughout her life, Beverly led many workshops at church and the Firehouse Art Center, particularly enjoying the enthusiasm and curiosity of children. Between these workshops and the after-school program, she has touched the lives of countless children in our community over the years.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her husband, three children, and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at McFarlin United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM on Friday, March 12, 2010.
