Mary "Marcus" (Roddy) Alley was born on October 17, 1898 in Tennessee, and she was the daughter of Andrew Paul Fillmore "Film" Roddy (1859–1938) and Tennessee "Tennie" (Williams) Roddy (1868–1956).
Marcus was married as the 1st wife of Claude Sidney Alley (1896-1961), and although there was a marriage license issued in Detroit, Michigan on October 17, 1923 to Claude and Mary M, it was noted that "no ceremony performed, the license was returned on January 23, 1924." Claude was married 2nd about 1938 to Bertie Frances Shotwell (1911–2008), and they had at least one child, a son born about 1939. AND THEN, at the time Claude died in 1961, on his Death Certificate his wife was listed as Katherine (Johnson) Alley.}
Living at 405 Scott Avenue, Nashville, Marcus was 38 years old and married when she died of breast cancer on July 27, 1937 at Protestant Hospital. Burial was two days later in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
