Bertha M. Roof Adkins, 81, of New Boston died Jan. 13, 2014, at Hempstead Manor. She was born July 11, 1932, in Lyra, Ohio to the late Albert Roof and Josephine Mitchell Roof.
She was a member of Mount Hope Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Jeffery L. (Bonnie) Adkins and Patrick L. Adkins, one daughter, Vanessa L. (James) Otworth, one brother, Harold Roof, one sister, Annamae Cartee, 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ernest Roof, Stanley Roof and Wilford Roof and four sisters, Rose Johnson, Mary Sizemore, Margaret Drake and Olive Wright.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the HARRISON-PYLES FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Thursday.
