Lyle had been a farmer all his working years in the Falmouth area and in Middle Branch Township, Marion. He retired in 1972. He raised and raced horses for over twenty years and continued to raise them after he retired. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and loved his animals.
One daughter and her husband, Pamela (Edward) Novak, preceded him in death. Lyle was preceded in death by his siblings, Janette (Floyd) Corneal, Geneva (Bill) Pulver, Wayne (Amber) Rose, Fern (Frans) Rose and Herbert (Toni) Rose.
