Mrs. Nona Grace (Rose) Eade, 88, formerly of Pensacola Florida, passed away on November 12, 2013, in Meridianville, Alabama. In February 2013, she and her husband moved to Meridianville into a home next to their son. In her recent illness, she was tenderly cared for by her husband, her family, caregivers Shannon Henderson and Loveinia Melbert, and the staff of Alacare Home Health and Hospice.
Nona Grace was born June 22, 1925, in Benton, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Effie Rose (Moore). She married Gordon E. Eade on March 16, 1947. Mrs. Eade graduated with a B.Ed. from Southern Illinois University and with a M.A. from the University of West Florida in Pensacola.
She is survived by her husband Gordon and four children: Dennis (Gail Guerra) of Barrington, IL; Ellen of Monroe, LA; Dale (Cindy Southerland) of Marianna, FL; and Donald (Cherry Hamilton) of Meridianville, AL; seven grandchildren, Heather Renwick (David) of Barrington, IL; Hayden Eade of Barrington, IL; Hunter Eade (Heather) of Crystal Lake, IL; Meghan Austin (Bradley) of Marianna, FL; Lauren O'Bryan (Zachary) of Marianna, FL; Chase Eade of Meridianville, AL; and Chad Eade of Slovakia, Europe. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Penelope Ann Renwick, Emma Grace Austin, and Oliver John Renwick. Also left to mourn her passing, are a number of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbors.
Nona Grace was preceded in death by her mother and father, a brother, Jack Rose, and two sisters who died in infancy.
Mrs. Eade, as she was known to hundreds of fifth grade students, taught in Freeport, Illinois, and Pensacola, Florida. She loved teaching this grade and realized her wish by never changing to any other grade. She retired from teaching in 1988 for health reasons and has been a member of the Escambia Florida Retired Educators Association in Pensacola since her retirement. She was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Pensacola from 1968-2013.
Funeral services will be held at the Spry Funeral Home, 2411 Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, Alabama 35810 at 12 pm on Friday November 15, 2013. Reverend Scott Gossett will officiate. Interment will be held at the Valley View Memorial Gardens, 139 Meridianville, Alabama, 35759, immediately following the funeral service.
