Mrs. Atchison was born September 15, 1919, in Hale County to the late Enoch Napoleon and Minnie Elizabeth Beckler Rose. She was employed for many years as a machine operator at Vanity Fair and as an employee at Bill's Dollar Store.
She was preceded in death by her paents, her husband, David Frederick Atchison, and a daughter, Elizabeth A. Burkett.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dot Strickland (Wayne) of Summerville, S.C> and Frederica Duncan (Barry) of Vestavia, Ala.; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 2 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Kirk Funeral Homes Chapel with The Reverend Joseph Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro chapel directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1-2 pm at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers are her Sunday School class, TEL, from Greensboro Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mrs. Atchison's church, Greensboro Baptist church, 908 Main St. Greensboro, AL 36744
