Funeral services for Mrs. Celia M. Rose Hill will be Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Parkway Funeral Home, Trinity, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Caddo Congregational Church Cemetery. Funeral services will be led by Patrick Cooley, Pastor, Trinity United Methodist Church. Viewing and visitation with family and friends will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Parkway, Highway 24, Trinity.
Mrs. Hill, a native of Lawrence County and former resident of Decatur died early a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, at her home in Woodhaven, Michigan. She had suffered with Alzheimer's for several years and had been under Hospice care for about two months.
Celia was born December 26, 1930, and was preceded in death by parents, Charlie and Ida Voss Rose of the Chalybeate Springs community of Lawrence County; brothers, Billy, Dewitt, John Will and Charlie Ed Rose; and sisters, Lois Parker, Pauline Hughes and Ruby Terry. She is survived by husband, Kermit Hill, Woodhaven, Michigan, a former Lawrence County and Decatur resident; daughter, Patricia "Patti" Rohde of Dearborn and grandsons, Jesse (Olivia) of Taylor and Nathan Hughes of Lincoln Park, Michigan.
Mrs. Hill was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, and retired special education teacher in Dearborn. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Trenton, Michigan, an affiliate and former active member of Trinity United Methodist Church while a temporary resident of Decatur. Celia was active and held leadership roles in United Methodist Women as well as serving as Sunday school teacher of both children and adult classes. Her recreational interests included RV camping and travel, an avid gardener, holder of the Alabama Master Gardener Certificate, and member of the Decatur/Morgan County Gardening Club.
Memorials may be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to Hospice of the Valley, Decatur.
