Nettie Mae Bellman, 98, of Bremen passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart. She was born May 15, 1915 to John and Susie (Mullet) Rouch.

Nettie graduated from Eager Elementary School, Lakeville High School, attended Fort Wayne Bible College, and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, Bethel College (B.A.) and Indiana University (M.S. EDU.) South Bend.

Nettie married Rev. Jesse H. Bellman on May 14, 1944. She taught at Lakeville Elementary School for six years; and at Madison Elementary School in PHM for 24 years. Nettie taught Sunday school for many years and piano lessons until the age of 95. She was a member of the Bremen Missionary Church, and directed the junior choir for many years.

Nettie is remembered for her many children's plays she wrote and directed at Madison Elementary, where "every child has a part" was her guiding principle. She also enjoyed writing children's literature and articles for the Bremen Enquirer. Her works were published in a book entitled Notes by Nettie.

Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, and by two grandchildren. Also by her parents, brothers, Lawrence, Clarence, Noble, Marion, Aron, and Everett Rouch, and sisters Berniece Weiss, Lucille Bryon and Marguerite Vaught.

She is survived by three daughters, Isabelle Irene VanAken of Sturgis, Michigan, RosaLee (John) Kurtz of Coldwater, Michigan, and Joyce Bellman-Scott of Mishawaka. Three sons, James W. (Cherie) Bellman of Bremen, Joseph P. (Brenda) Bellman of South Bend, and John Mark (Janet) Bellman of Bremen. There are 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community for their gentle care and kindness.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Bremen Missionary Church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Hinkle with burial following in the Bremen Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3-8 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the church.
