Neoma Florence Ruf Bivens, 87, died January 28, 2001, in Oklahoma City. She was born in Shattuck, OK, on October 9, 1913 to Frederick Fred Ruf and Leah Kraft Ruf. After graduating from Shattuck High School she attended the School of Nursing at Wesley Hospital in OKC, graduating a Registered Nurse. On June 1, 1938 she married Robert Lee Bivens of Arnett, OK. Neoma worked as a nurse in the OKC Public Schools. After retiring in 1976, she traveled extensively with her friends and family. Neoma belonged to many social and religious organizations including: Westminster Presbyterian Church and Martha Circle, the RoseMary Garden Club, and the American Business Women's Association, where she was named "Woman of the Year" for 1979-1980. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Neoma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Bivens, and two brothers, Roy and Harvey Ruf. She is survived by a sister, Winifred Schwab of Tampa, FL; a brother Rhodney Ruf of Wichita Falls, TX; two daughters, Beverly Krueger and her husband James E. Krueger of Oklahoma City; and Barbara Bivens Hunt and her life partner Kathryn Turner of Laguna Beach, CA; two grandsons, who she loved dearly, Rob Krueger and his wife Laurie CaIdwell Krueger of Worcester, MA; Howard R. Hunt, Jr. and his wife Ashley Dollarhide Hunt of OKC; and two great grandaughters, who brightened her life, Hannah McKinley Hunt and Eleanor Elizabeth Krueger.
