KEYSTONE: Ruth Ardella Allers, age 87, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone following an extended illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2008 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery in Keystone. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. A memorial fund has been established.
Ruth was born May 8, 1921, on a farm North East of Oelwein to Otto and Bonna (Wilkinson) Rummel. She graduated from High School at Stanley, Iowa. From 1939 to 1941 she attended Upper Iowa University, completing an elementary teacher's certificate in Education.
Ruth was an elementary teacher in Keystone for two years. She married Dale Allers of Keystone on December 25, 1943. For many years she worked as a clerk with her husband at Allers and Son's Grocery Store. Ruth also served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and as a 4-H Leader. She was a member of the Ladies Literary Club, Home Mission, Altar Guild and the Friendship Club at St. John Lutheran Church where she became a member in 1950. A member of the Keyladies, Ruth served as a volunteer at the Keystone Care Center for thirty years.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Joleen Allers of Fort Dodge and Ben and Jewel Allers of Kansas City, MO; her grandson, Jeff (Suzanne) Allers and their twin sons, Sam and Ben of Berlin, Germany; her granddaughter, Kristina (Jim) Luchsinger and their daughters, Abby and Rachel of Maplewood, MN; her grandson, Morgan (Tracy Allers and their daughter, Aunika of Golden, CO; her step-grandson, Aaron (Traci) and their children, Alysa and Jack of Des Moines; her sisters, Virginia Bone of Monticello and Donna James of Oelwein; her sister-in-law, Lorna Allers of Keystone; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; and her brothers-in-law, Calvin James, Wylan Bone and Kenneth Allers.
