Marjorie Ann (Mrs. Leroy) Andresen, 90, of DeWitt, Iowa, died peacefully Tuesday morning, June 27, 2017, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living, Clinton.

Mrs. Andresen, the former Margie Runyon, was born August 5, 1926, to the late John D. and Daisey Mae (Lamb) Runyon in Beckley, West Virginia.

Margie met Merle Dailey while working at the soda fountain in Union Station, Washington, DC, and they were married in 1945.

She also was a waitress at the Maid Rite in Port Byron and at Vera’s Café in Cordova, Illinois, and did house cleaning for various local families.

Margie was united in marriage to LeRoy V. Andresen on February 4, 1966, in Dixon, Illinois. The couple farmed their century farm in rural DeWitt until retirement.

Margie was a longtime active member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church where she loved helping with the Fall Suppers and Food Pantry. She and Leroy’s presence has been greatly missed for the last several months.

She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, flowers, crafts, cooking, playing cards, traveling, ballroom dancing and their weekly visits to the DeWitt Referral Center and Clinton Pizza Ranch.

Margie loved her family dearly and cherished time spent with them. She will always be remembered for her West Virginia heritage, especially her accent. Margie was kind to all and never met a person she didn’t like.

Surviving are her husband LeRoy; children, John (Maxine) Dailey of Orlando, Florida, Linda Edwards of Silvis, Illinois, Debra (Dennis) Krogman of Clinton, Linda (Claude) Kahley of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Kristie (Dallas) Hoffman of Moline, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Shelly Andresen of South Carolina; 23 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Andresen and siblings, Laura Stafford, Irene George, Helen Estep, Pauline Roche, Ronald Runyon, Russell Runyon, Billy Runyon, and Robert Runyon.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017. A Service of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, in the church with the Rev. Jealaine Marple officiating. Burial will be at the Elvira Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert Edwards, Ken Edwards, John Dailey, Jr., Nick Dailey, Jeremiah Krogman, Jacob Krogman and Cory Andresen. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Gina Williams, Carolyn Dailey, Jinny Senn, Jessica Boorn and Julie Krogman.
