Linda Ann Russell Aikens, 66, a resident of Harriman, passed away, Thursday, March 27, 2014, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mrs. Aikens was born on Dec. 8, 1947, in Oliver Springs. She was a lifelong resident of this area.
Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, niece and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Aikens, Harriman, and she was most proud of her children, Jamie and wife Julie, Cookeville, Leesa Lamance and husband Roger, Harriman, and Jay Aikens, Harriman; and her grandchildren, Jessica, a 2014 graduating senior with high honors, Rachel, a freshman at Harriman High, Jacob, 11 years old, Jordan, 11 years old, and Isaiah, 10 years old.
Linda was also proud of providing a living for her children, along with her husband Jimmy. She worked at Harriman Hosiery Mill for 20-plus years, fighting her way back through many illnesses and surgeries. But she didn't do it alone. Her mother, Bobbie Jean Huckeby, and a special aunt and uncle, Arthur and Gracie Lively, loved her through it all.
She also leaves behind a special aunt, Cecil Rogers; and several cousins who were like brothers and sisters to her; and many nieces and nephews and others from the Aikens clan, and friends.
Linda, a born-again Christian, now walks with Jesus, having no more pain, no more tears, and her family will miss her until they are joined together again to live forever in eternity. She has joined her parents, Charles Wallard Peters, Bobby Frank Huckeby and Bobbie Jean Huckeby; a infant son, Stan Lee Aikens; and a grandson, Michael Andrew Clark.
The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs. The funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home, with Pastor Eddie Nealy officiating. Burial and graveside services followed at the Ollis Family Cemetery in Oliver Springs. A guest register book is available at www.sharpfh.com.
