Her father was a farmer, After her marriage they moved to the neighboring county of Gallia, near the Ohio River. Elizabeth, known as Betty, was the Mother of 13 children, 11 living to adulthood. All of the children were born in Ohio before Betty and her husband moved to Delaware County, Indiana.
