Anna M. Akers
Brazil - Anna M. Akers of Brazil died at 5 a.m. Thursday Feb. 8, 2007, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born Feb. 9, 1946 in Brazil to Chester and Evelyn Rhodes Sanders.
On Sept. 6, 1963, she married Paul D. Akers. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and of the El Shaddai Emmaus Community. She owned "Cakes by Anna." She loved many foster children earlier in her life. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Kelly Riddell and her husband Jay, and Janice Wylie and her husband Rusty; sons, Randy Akers and his wife Melissa, Paul "Andy" Akers and his wife Shannon, and Matthew D. Akers; nine grandchildren and one great grandson, all of Brazil; sisters, Phyllis Jones, and her husband Montey of Terre Haute, Sandra Livingston and her husband Richard of Terre Haute, and Karen Gruber and her husband David of Farmersburg; brother Floyd Sanders and his wife Margaret; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Marjorie Howard.
Memorial services are Monday at the Eastside Church of Christ, Fruitridge and College Avenue, Terre Haute, with Abe Miller officiating. Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m.
