Mary L. Ayers, 73, daughter of the late Marshall Henry and Mrs. Gladys Merrill Saunders, died at her residence on Dec. 26, 2003. A native of Roanoke, Va., she was a member of the Bayside Baptist Church and the Young Sunday School Class of the church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Rudolph W. Ayers; one daughter, Cleo F. DAurio and her husband Edward of Virginia Beach; five sons, Connie W. Ayers and his wife Kathy, David L. Ayers and his wife Joy, Sammy J. Ayers, Lindy W. Ayers and his wife Linda and Ray T. Ayers, all of Virginia Beach; and her stepmother, Stella Saunders of Chesapeake. She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Linwood Peterson. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Bayside Baptist Church "Together We Build Fund," 1920 Pleasure House Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
