Sadie Nancy Sawyer Beckwith passed away at the age of 71 at White Pine Care Center. She was born to Lynford Earl and Mary E. Carmen Sawyer. Sadie had lived in Ely for most of her life. She was a licensed practical nurse, having worked at William Bee Ririe Hospital and White Pine Care Center for the past 30 years. She retired in 1977. She was an activity director at White Pine Care Center for five years and was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the White Pine Pink Ladies. A brother, Sidney Sawyer preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Earl and daughter, Nancie Provost, both of Ely; sons, Donald Joe and Sid, both of Las Vegas; brother, Earl Sawyer of Schertz, TX; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
