The daughter of the late William A. Scannell and Clara Fidelia Henninger, Gertrude was born Oct. 9, 1912, in Franklin, PA, preceded in death by Louis Conrad, her husband of 56 years. She loved farm life, horses and fishing. Known for her "silent approach" to fishing, she never spoke even when she had a catch and always caught the first and the biggest fish of the day. After living in Bishop, CA, for many years they moved to Barrington, IL. to be with family until they all re-located to Gold River, CA. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Pam Conrad, granddaughters Kris Bratsch and Kelly (and Dave) Kalemba, great-grandchildren Heather, Taylor, Andrew, Tara and Megan and her extended family Dick and Jill McClean, Paige and Eric Lieuwen, and two sisters, Helen Ford and Martha Barry in Akron, OH. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to hospice.
