Cease, Helen R. (Scannell),

87, of Louisville, entered eternal life on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital surrounded by family that loved her dearly.

Helen was the daughter of the late John and Nettie (Weber) Scannell. She retired after many years in the payroll and bookkeeping services of local companies, the latest being Duling Optical. In her retired years, she developed a small enterprise of paper crafts called "Memories Unfolded by Helen". She was foremost and always a wife, mother, beloved grandmother and very proud great grandmother. She loved her family with her whole heart, sharing every celebration of each of our lives. We will miss her grace, her charming wit and sense of humor, her "shugs" and her "smootz".

Survivors include her devoted husband and life partner of 68 years, Henry Paul Cease; her children, Paula Silk (Ken), Robin Tillett (David) and Sonny Cease (Jill); grandchildren, Sarah Inman (David), Jeffrey, Christopher, Allie and Emily; great grandchildren, Campbell and Emma; sister, Betty Mitler (Jack); sister-in-law, Mary Louise Scannell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 - 4 p.m. & 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .

The family would like to thank all the wonderful care given to Mom at Norton Brownsboro Hospital and The Forum.
