Obituary- Christina Laun
"Christina Laun was the daughter of Christian Laun and Maria Scherf and was born in Milwaukee, Wis. March 1st 1854. At the age of twelve Christina came with her parents to Floyd County, Iowa. They settled in West St. Charles Township, where she grew to womanhood. On June 2nd, 1873 she was united in marriage to Ewald Laun. They settled in Ulster Township and for many years were numbered with the well to do and prosperous farmers of that section of the county, where they lived till seventeen years ago, when they retired from active life and settled in Charles City. To their union eight children were born of whom two proceded the mother in death. Her husband died last December in Orgeon where they had gone to visit relatives. A peculiar incident in the death of Mr. & Mrs. Laun is that they both dieid very suddenly of apoplexy [stroke] while they were away visiting, Mr. Laun visiting his wife's relatives and Mrs. Laun visiting her husband's relatives."

"...She was a true helpmate to her husband a true mother to her children and a dear friend to all in need and was highly esteemed by all who knew her."
