Emma was the daughter of William Schuman and Emelia Lentz. She married Archie Banks on 04 Jul 1906 Havelock, Pocahontas, Iowa. They were the parents of Gladys Mae, Clarence, Arthur N, Thelma, Bernice, Melvin Lloyd, Ruby Adeline, Marvin, Donald W, Darold Charles, Floyd Wayne, Eugene, and Leland.

October 1, 1959 - Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - Emma Doris Schumann was born January 19, 1889, a daughter of William and Amelia Schumann, near Newell. There she resided until her marriage to Archie Newton Banks on July 4 1906. To this union 13 children were born, 12 of whom survive her.

Her husband and one son, Darold, and 6 grandchildren, have preceded her in death.

Those who survive her are Gladys (Mrs Jay Onvig), Clarence, Arthur, Mrs Thelma Cheevers, Bernice (Mrs Clarence Rebhuhn), Melvin, Ruby (Mrs Harold stone), Marvin, Donald, Floyd, Eugene, and Leland. There are 50 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Her parents, four brothers, and three sisters have preceded her in death, she being the last of her immediate family.

Services were held Sunday, Sept 27 from the Hughes-Nelson funeral home. Rev. C.R. Buckwalter officiated. Burial was in the Storm Lake cemetery. Bearers were Glen Crowley Dale Crowley, Don Crowley, Eldon Sassman, John Marlotte, and Bill Miller.
