Services were held Nov 26 for Laura D Bahnsen, 91, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming, with burial at the Wyoming Cemetery. The Rev. Gregory Hanneman and the Rev. Dell Shiell officiated at the services.
Mrs. Bahnsen, Wyoming died Nov 23 at Mercy Hospital in Davenport.
She was born on June 6, 1893, near Westside, the daughter of John and Emelie Ewoldt Schumann. She attended rural schools near Westside.
On Dec. 19, 1917, she married John Bahnsen at Westside. The couple farmed ner Wyoming for a short time before moving to Minnesota. In 1938, they returned to the Wyoming area. In 1980, she went to live with her daughter, Bernelta, in Cedar Rapids. Her husband died in 1968.
Laura was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the ALCW and the Wyoming American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Lafayette Bahnsen of Wyoming, Jay Bahnsen of Davenport and John Bahnsen of Anamosa; three daughters, Bernelta Harris of Cedar Rapids, Eva Hammond of Davenport and Mrs. Betty Wurst of Onslow; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, LeRoy Schumann of Manning, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Snyder of Westside.
