She was born on November 24, 1927 in Hardin County, Iowa to William Henry Schuneman and Gladys Clara Martha Raska Schuneman.
She is survived by son, William Gast and wife, Carolyn of Dexter, Iowa; daughter, Rita Schill and husband, Donald of Audubon, New Jersey; four grandchildren, Robert, Michelle, Vaughn, Nathaniel, and six great-grandchildren, Jared, Alex, Chase, Madisson, Mason, and Natalia. Irvin is also survived by eight siblings, Laverne, Iva, Marjorie, Kathleen, Ralph, Judy, Joan, and Eloise.
A memorial service will be held for Irvin and Verdelle Gast at Highland's Church, Bella Vista, Arkansas at 2:00 p.m. October 24, 2013.
