Bertha was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria and in 1912 was united in marriage to Rev. A. A. Bartz who served the Zion Congregation for over fifty years, retiring from active ministry in 1942. Rev. A. Bartz preceded her in death in 1948. For thirteen years Mrs. Bartz made her home with her son, Rev. Herb Bartz of Detroit, Mich., and the past nine years has been a resident of Alexandria.
Mrs. Bartz passed away June 15, 1970 at the age of 83 years. She is survived by two sons and one daughter: Harold Bartz of Alexandria, Rev. Herb Bartz of Sunnyvale, California and Ruth (Mrs. John Boyd) of Alexandria. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one step-daughter, Mrs. Pauline Roberts and four sisters: Minnie (Mrs. Friebert Luedtke) of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; Emma (Mrs. August Stark) of Garfield; Mrs. Elsie Geane of Alexandria and Mrs. Alice Hanson of Grantsburg, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Carl; three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held June 17, 1970 at Zion Lutheran Church, Alexandria, Rev. K. K. Hill officiating. Interment at Kinkead Cemetery, Alexandria. Pallbearers were Harlan Schuneman, George Schuneman, Clarence Stark, Raymond Stark, Earl Gease, and Armand Gease.
