Janet Lee Banaka, 48, of Highland, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. She was born on December 18, 1961 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Willis and Marjorie O'Roke Schuneman. Janet worked for Great Western Dining at the Highland Community College as the head cook. On April 10, 1981 she married Chris Clark in Horton, Kansas they were later divorced. She then married Brad Banaka on January 9, 2003 in Lawrence, Kansas. Survivors include her husband, Brad Banaka of the home, Highland, Kansas; two sons, Curtis Clark of Kansas City, Kansas and Justin & wife, Alysia Clark of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter, Christy & husband Rodney Bonar of Highland, Kansas; two step sons, Jeremy Banaka and Timothy Banaka both of Netawaka, Kansas; brother, Louis Schuneman of Powhattan, Kansas; two sisters, LaRae & husband Wayne Murren of Lawrence, Kansas and Louise Harris & James Foye of Whiting, Kansas; one granddaughter, Alyonna Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Shirley Brown and a nephew, Travis Larabee. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery.
