Carol Marie Scott Brockish took her final breath at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville on July 13, 2009 after a long battle with COPD and osteoporosis. She was 79. Carol was born to Esley L. and Audrey B. (Snider) Scott on November 13, 1929 in Gothenburg, NE. Her family moved to Holyoke, CO in 1940. Carol graduated from Phillips County High School in 1948 and from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Denver in 1951. Carol married Robert F. Brockish of Denver on February 23, 1952 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Holyoke. Together they raised eight children, living in Littleton, CO and Brigham City, UT, before moving to Boulder in 1967. On their 50th wedding anniversary in 2002 they moved to Lafayette. After the last of their children completed elementary school, Carol worked at Wardenburg Student Health Center on the C.U. Boulder campus. She retired in 1992.
Carol was active in parents' activities while her children were in school. She was a charter member of St Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Table Mesa and recently a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette. Carol's primary interests were centered on her faith and family. She loved reading, walking, sewing and traveling. With her five daughters she organized the family's book club holding monthly teleconference discussions.
Carol was preceded in death by her son Thomas, her grandson Benjamin Dravis, her parents Esley and Audrey Scott, her brother Blaine Scott and her sister Carmen Scott Alley.
She is survived by her husband Robert of Lafayette, her daughters Amy Kenney and Madeline Brockish of Lafayette, Mary Dravis (Steve) Parrish of Ft. Collins, Margaret (Baltimore) Padron of Lakewood, CA, Milissa Brockish of Los Angeles and her sons Timothy (Wendy) of Rexburg, ID and Theodore (Julie) of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. She is also survived by grandchildren Lindsey and Jessica Brockish of Seattle, WA, Audrey and Robyn Kenney and Josef Brockish of Lafayette, Jason (Travis) Dravis of Studio City, CA, Robert Dravis, Anna and Eric Parish of Ft. Collins, and Daniel, Baltimore, Kyle, and Tyler Padron of Lakewood, CA. She is also survived by her sister Sharron (Harris) Lett of Holyoke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 715 Cabrini Dr., Lafayette at 10 a.m. on Sat. July 18. The Mass will be preceded by a Vigil & Rosary Service at 9 a.m. Private interment will be at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Boulder.
