Sue Shah O’Brien Liles, 86, passed at peace at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem and went home to be with her faithful Lord and Savior Monday, April 24, 2017.

She was born January 3, 1931 in Elan, Taiwan. She immigrated to Kinston from Taipei, Taiwan in 1974 with husband, Carroll P. “O.B.” O’Brien, U.S. Navy retiree, who preceded her in death. She became a proud naturalized U.S. citizen in 1981. She retired from Caswell Center. Sue married Royce E. Liles in 1997, who preceded her in death.

She was a Christian and active member of Queen Street UMC. In life and in her passing Sue relied on her faith and took comfort from her favorite hymns "God Will Take Care of You" and "What A Friend We Have in Jesus".

She moved to Winston-Salem in 2016 to be closer to her daughter.

Sue is survived by her daughter Kim O’Brien Yates (Jeff) of Winston-Salem; step-daughter Kelly Liles Mansfield (Bruce); and step-granddaughter Molly of Virginia Beach Va.; sister-in-law Marlene Liles of Kinston; extended family and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Howard Carter Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park on Friday April 28, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Allen Bingham officiating.
