Dorothea G. Ascue, resident of Lamont and former resident of Ponca City, died Friday, May 18, 2012, in Hillcrest Manor Nursing Center in Blackwell. She was 90.
Dorothea was born Aug. 26, 1921, in Pond Creek, the daughter of George L. and Lillis Esther Howland Sharkey.
A graveside memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, in Pond Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home of Tonkawa.
Dorothea grew up in Pond Creek, graduating from Pond Creek High School.
She married Merle Wesley Ascue on Feb. 23, 1941, in Wichita, Kan., and they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Survivors include her husband, Merle of the home; son, Steve Ascue of Lamont; daughter, Saundra Sue Bates of Rockledge, Fla.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Sharkey; and sister, Darlene McAdams.
