Lila Louise Hales, wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully on May 1, 2011 following an age related illness to return to our Father in Heaven.
She was born January 10, 1924 in No. Ogden, Utah, to Charles A. Shaw and Elvira I. Shaw. She married Eldon E. Hales on December 18, 1942 in North Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

She was a faithful member of the Ogden Rock Cliff 2nd LDS ward. She played the piano in various organizations in the church. She also taught cub scouts. She attended Weber High School. She worked at DDO, Wangsgards grocery store, and Beckstrom body shop.

She loved golfing, reading, gardening, and camping. For many years she was a member of the Ben Lomond Ladies Golf Association. She made beautiful hand sewn quilts. She gave many hand-made blankets and quilts to charity. She was an avid gardener and was very proud of her yard.

Surviving are one son, Daryl E. (Cecelia) Hales, Layton; three daughters, Linda L. (Lynn) Hall, Layton; Lecia (Jay) Beckstrom, Layton; and Sandra (Bruce) Porter, Roy. She was very proud of her grandchildren. She is survived by 12 grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, 2 brothers, Earl and Howard, and one sister Helen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel in Ogden, 845 Washington Blvd., with Shawn Beckstrom officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday 6 -8 p.m. and Thursday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
