Elinor Shaw Broadwater 1941 ~ 2005
Elinor Shaw Broadwater passed away August 29, 2005 at her home in Salt Lake City of breast cancer. Born July 5, 1941 to Richard Shaw, Sr. and Lena Grotepas Shaw. Elinor grew up on a farm and attended Murray High School where she met her husband Kenneth Ray Broadwater. They were married August 31, 1961 and raised their two children in South Salt Lake.
Energetic, fun and creative, Elinor always threw her entire self into whatever she did. So many people enjoyed her many talents and cute smile. As an educational assistant at Hartvigsen School for 22 years, Elinor developed a second family composed of special education students and their teachers. As a mother and wife, Elinor cooked great meals, made the best cookies and infused each day with beauty. She loved animals and will be missed greatly by her dog, Dot. She was selfless and always did the right thing in the best way she could possible do it and always without an ulterior motive or desire for personal benefit. She was truly beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.
Elinor is survived by her husband, Kenneth Ray Broadwater; son Randy Broadwater; daughter Karleen Broadwater; father Richard Shaw, Sr.; sister Lavon Shaw (Welch); and brother Richard Shaw, Jr. She is preceded in death by her mother Lena Grotepas Shaw and daughter-in-law Kristen Lorenz Broadwater. The family would like to thank members of the Kimball LDS Ward and Community Nursing Service. Friends and family can pay respects at a viewing on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 from 6-9 p.m. and at funeral services on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E. in Murray, Utah. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S. in Salt Lake City.
