Doris Ann Beckstead died at her residence on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Doris was a native of Nephi, Utah, daughter of Clyde Shaw and Kathryn Starr Shaw. Doris graduated from Juab High School and the University of Utah with high honors, earning a B.S. in elementary education. She taught elementary school in the Jordan School District in Salt Lake City, Utah and in the Champaign, Illinois School District.
On June 8, 1955, Doris married Robert W. Beckstead, also a native of Nephi, Utah. They have been residents of Fairfax County, Virginia since 1973. Doris dedicated her life to supporting her husband, raising her four daughters and loving her thirteen grandchildren and three great grandsons. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many years in teaching, leadership and temple positions.
After her children left home, Doris was hired as a senior secretary at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and was recognized for her outstanding service until she retired in 1998.
Doris is survived by her husband Robert W. Beckstead, PHD; her daughters Karen A. (Bruce) Bennett, Charlotte K. (John) Ferguson, Sandra L. (Larry) Hepworth and Linda E. ( David) Spencer and by her 13 grandchildren and three great grandsons.
Graveside service will be held at Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi, Utah on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, Nephi.
