She was the daughter of John E. and Elizabeth Batterton Shea.
Miss Shea was born in Plattsburgh, and lived for most of her life in Port Henry.
She graduated from Albany Teachers College in 1941.
She devoted her career to teaching Latin and French at Port Henry High School and Moriah Central School.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Thomas B. Shea; and her sister, Mary Carmel Shea Aitner.
