Age 97, died Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Arbor Hospice. She was born March 29, 1915, to David and Zoda (Murphy) Shelby.
Jane completed her business training after she graduated from Gerstmeyer Tech High School in Terre Haute. On June 12, 1936 she married Foster Ross in Terre Haute, IN and he preceded her in death December 16, 1997. She was employed by the Ford Motor Co. and Wolverine Plastics of Milan, the State of Michigan Bureau of Social Aid in Ann Arbor and the Ypsilanti State Hospital from which she retired in 1976. She was a member of the State of Michigan Retiree Association, Marble Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan, the Dependable Sunday School Class, past president of the Milan Woman's Club, United Methodist Women group and the American Legion Auxiliary. She served on numerous church boards, co-chairing the church bake sales and did square dancing for 25 years.
She is survived by two sons Stephen (Margie) Ross of Grass Lake, James (Jane) Ross of Saline, four grandchildren Terrie Griffes, James M. (Jennifer) Ross, Kristina (Matthew) Cavalli and Brian Ross, five great-grandchildren Emma, Joshua and Jackson Cavalli and James and Grace Ross.
Besides her husband Foster, she was preceded in death by a grandson Stephen Ross, Jr., and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, from 3-7pm, Monday from 4-8pm at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan where funeral services will be held at 1:00pm. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012. Contributions may be made to Marble Memorial United Methodist Church in Milan. www.ochalekstark.com.
