Van Alstyne – Frances Barnes Sisemore, of Van Alstyne, joined the angels in Heaven praising her Savior as she passed from this life on May 31, 2014. Frances was born October 21, 1920, in Bogata, Texas, daughter of Gus and Essie Dee Shelby. Frances married Lonnie Reese Barnes on December 9.1939 and they were married 38 years until Reese’s death on April 3, 1978. Frances and Reese raised their five children in Van Alstyne, Texas. They were members of The Church of God. Frances was raised a Baptist but converted when she married Reese. Recently she began attending King’s Trail Cowboy Church with her granddaughter. Frances retired from Burlington Industries. Next to her relationship with God and her marriage, there was never anything more important to her than her children, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She took delight in knowing what they were doing and how they were, no matter where they were. Nanny Barnes was able to watch all of her legacy grow and enjoy their accomplishments on Facebook. The family wishes to thank all of the health professionals, who have so gently cared for Frances. Their compassion and desire to enrich her earthly life is so greatly appreciated. Frances was preceded in death by Woodrow Sisemore. Survivors: Children, Jerry Barnes and wife, Brenda, Gene Barnes and wife, Gloria, Lavon Foster and husband, Walter, Bill Barnes and wife, Debra, Delores Fairchild and husband, Rick; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Sue Bybee and husband, Bob; and numerous other relatives and friends who will all miss her dearly. Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. Brother Jason Norton will officiate and burial will follow in the Van Alstyne Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at Scoggins Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas. 903-482-5225.
