SANDIA, TX - Johnny Louis Sherek, age 66, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008. He was born on June 20, 1941, in Corpus Christi; the son of Edward F. Sherek and Mary (Vanecek) Sherek. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam in 1966-67. He retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot in 1997. He was married to his wife Elaine for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Sherek of Sandia, Texas; one daughter, Tammy (Tom) Bunton of Beeville, Texas; two sons, Benny (Lisa) Sherek and John David Sherek both of Corpus Christi, Texas; three grandchildren, Brianna Bunton, Alyssa Sherek and Tyler Sherek; one brother, Joe (Linda) Sherek of Ozona, Texas; one sister Bernice (Albert) Baca of Largarto, Texas; and his mother Mary Sherek Klepack and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Edward F. Sherek: his sister Mary Ruder, and his brother Edward W. Sherek.
Visitation and a rosary were conducted on Jan. 4 at Dobie Funeral Home, Mathis, TX.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Jan. 5 at St. Pius X Church in Sandia. Interment followed in the St. John of the Cross Catholic Cemetery in Orange Grove.
