Charlene M. Sherek, 77, of rural Gilbert died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Essentia Health in Duluth.

She was born Feb. 13, 1934, in Mazeppa Township, Wabasha County, Minn. to Ray and Margaret (Williams) King.

Charlene married Gerald Klomps on Aug. 3, 1950, and at age 40 she was widowed. On Nov. 25, 1977, she married Donald "Butch" Sherek. Charlene was the treasurer for Biwabik Township for 18 years. She also worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses in Eveleth and Virginia.

She was a member of Community United Church of Christ, an avid Virginia league bowler and seamstress who enjoyed making clothes. Charlene especially enjoyed playing the dobro and jamming with the "Hutter Bunch" at the Biwabik Township Hall.

Survivors include her husband, Donald "Butch;" children: Dale (Mary) Klomps, Peggy (John) Smith, Brian (Tammy) Klomps, and Matt (Amy) Sherek; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Curtis (Vicki Erickson) King; sister, Annetta (Jim) Bauer; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, Gerald.

Burial in the Argo Cemetery in Babbitt.
