Joyce Marie Sherek, 85, of Mountain Iron died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Diamond Willow.

Joyce was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Virginia to Joe and Grace (Cowan) Gauthier. She grew up and attended school in Virginia. She married Joseph Sherek and raised their family in Virginia. She worked at Cluett Peabody and at the Virginia Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1993 after 35 years.

She enjoyed walking, shopping and especially spending the weekends at the cabin on Wynn Lake.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Clyde) Loberg of Britt; her son, Kevin (Silvia) Sherek of Virginia; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her close friend, Ethel Kralich.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; eight brothers and sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. John O'Donnell will be the celebrant. Private family burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik. Arrangements are with Range Funeral Home in Virginia.
