ALBURGH / ST. ALBANS - Anna Sheridan Aubin, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, with a big heart and a bright smile, died on Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Franklin County Rehab Center, surrounded by family. She was 78.
She was born in Gibbstown, N.J., on Oct. 10, 1928, to the late John and Anna Sheridan.
Mrs. Aubin's mother immigrated to the United States from Ireland, and she was proud of her Irish heritage.
She met her husband, Eugene at a dance in Grand Isle, and it was love at first sight, Mr. Aubin said. They were married on May 15, 1948. In 58 years of marriage, they had three children and seven grandchildren. Mr. Aubin said of his wife, ?She is my one true love.
They spent many of their married years running a dairy farm in Alburgh, and passed their free time in the summer at their camp on Lake Champlain.
Mrs. Aubin was a skilled baker; she baked pies, cakes, fudge, and numerous yummy treats. She loved looking through her recipe collection and her Taste of Homemagazines to find delicious new things to try.
She was most well known for her cake-making skills. Her cakes were scrumptious ? and gorgeous. She made cakes for any occasion a cake was needed, but most often it was for a birthday.
Many family photographs depict a grandchild with a big smile looking at a birthday cake made by Gram.
She cherished her grandchildren, and she loved to cook. No one ever had to eat store-bought birthday cake; they always had one that was made special, just for them.
Mrs. Aubin's greatest pride was her family. She loved to brag about her children and grandchildren's adventures and accomplishments.
Mr. Aubin refers to his wife as his "one and only". He said he used to tell her, I love you more than a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck.
She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, because everyone who knew her, loved her.

She is also survived by her three children: Stephen Aubin and his wife, Carolyn, of St. Albans, Kathleen Dutil of Champlain, N.Y., and Micheal Aubin and his wife, Karen, of Jonesborough, Tenn.; and her grandchildren: Stephen Aubin Jr. and his companion, Shanna Sweeney, of Alburgh, Rachel Dutil and her companion, Robert Guay, of Mooers, N.Y., Nathan and Adam Dutil of Champlain, N.Y., and Justin and Tyler Aubin of Jonesborough, Tenn.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Cornelius Bud, James Greer and George Sheridan; and two sisters, Grace Patten and Mae Hazen; as well as a grandson, Kyle Aubin; and a son-in-law, Leon Dutil.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at 3 p.m. from the St. Amadeus Church in Alburgh. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in the Aubin Family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburgh.
