Phoebe Frances Arthur, 79, Cloquet, died Friday, Dec. 8, 1995, in her home. She was born in Cloquet. She attended school in Esko and Cloquet. She had worked as a housekeeper for several Cloquet families. She married Howard Arthur on July 4, 1936, in Cloquet. In 1946, she moved to Wright, where she farmed with her husband. In 1951, she returned to Cloquet, where she was a machine operator at Diamond Match until retiring in 1976. Her parents were Isaac and Amanda Pekkala Sjogren. Her husband, Howard, died in 1988. She is survived by a daughter, Roberta Pence of McGregor; two sons, Brian of Sumner, Wash., and Terrence of Cloquet; a sister, Violet Brandt of Duluth; a special friend, Bob Anderson of Cloquet; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Northland Funeral Home in Cloquet, where visitation will continue from noon until the 1 p.m. services Wednesday. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet.
