Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed on peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on December 18, 2010. He was born on June 14, 1918 in Logan, Utah. After graduating from Murray High, he served a mission for the LDS church in the Northern States mission. He then enlisted in the Army during the beginning of World War II, and was soon accepted into the Army Air Corps as a pilot. He was assigned to the European Theater and while based in England, met his beautiful English bride Lily. He flew many missions, one of which included dropping paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne in the early hours of D-Day. He completed his military career as a decorated Lt. Colonel. After the war, he attended the University of Utah medical school and upon completion of his internship and residency, began his private practice as an OB/GYN in Camarillo, California where he raised his family. After delivering over 6,000 babies and performing countless surgeries, he moved to Provo, Utah to his 'dream' retirement position as a physician at the BYU Student Health Center. He enjoyed his 19 years there and was well-loved and appreciated by the students. He was a quiet man who went about doing great things. We expect him to continue doing the same. He is survived by his loving wife Lily, brother Glenn (Elva), daughter Sherry (Richard Milne), and sons Lester (Rose Ann), Kevin (Jean), Colin (Polly), Steven (Sharise), Daniel (Lee Ann), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Virginia and grandson Steven Daniel Milne. We are grateful for the tender care given by Paulette Larz, R.N. of the hospice service. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Edgemont 14th Ward Chapel, 4000 North Foothill Drive, Provo, Utah. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected].
